Don't Break Under the Pressure

Writer: Ada BaileyAda Bailey

I felt like I was about to explode and now the feeling is gone.

Poof! It disappeared as the tears trailed down my cheeks and the worry leaked out of my heart.

It disappeared and in its place I found peace.

Where did the peace come from?

A prayer of faith and an understanding that I can't do it on my own.

I know this well, I grew up in community. I grew up being guided by customs and cultures that recognized God's presence as the only sustainable source of peace. Yet, I lost sight of his hands outstretched to me.

If you're like me and you have big dreams (dreams that illuminate dark spaces and leave an impact on generations) then you need peace.

You really need peace and I thought to write out the prayer of faith.

God, thank you for the breath in my lungs,

I know my life has a purpose.

God, go before me and carry the weight of my worries.

If you help me I won't feel it, I'll go through it but I won't break.

Please, I need you.

In Jesus' name,

Amen.

This prayer isn't outside of the scope of writing romance. In fact, to be fully transparent it's because my debut novel is in the editing phase, and my life is in a transitional stage that I needed to write this prayer.

I won't break under the pressure because God carries the weight of every concern and He'll work it out.
